Sites

Tell Monitaria where your offices, clinics and warehouses are, so every device is at the right site.

3 min read · For admins

A site is a location. Every device is at one site, and Devices, Overview, the map, Traffic, reports, alert rules, maintenance windows and access limits all use the same answer. Add your sites in Settings › Sites with their networks, such as 10.20.0.0/16, and an optional name prefix.

How a device gets its site

  1. A site chosen for the device in the sensor editor (Site).
  2. A name that starts with the site, like 06_HAM · switch01.
  3. Its address in one of a site's networks. When networks overlap, the most specific one wins, so a head office can have 10.0.0.0/8 while each branch has its own /16.
  4. A site's name prefix, such as WH- for WH-printer01.
  5. Otherwise, the collector's own site.

Names like 06_HAM · switch01 keep working exactly as before, also after you add sites. Settings › Sites suggests networks Monitaria already knows: the NetFlow site networks, site routers' VLANs, and networks whose devices are all at one site.

Tip: Scanning a subnet in Devices › Discovery with Site filled in puts that subnet in the site, so what's found there now and later is at that site.
